The Allen Iverson free agent saga continues as the future hall of fame guard still doesn’t have a team as the upcoming NBA season continues gets closer and closer.
The whole Allen Iverson free agent process has been an unusual one as no team is really knocking down the former NBA MVP’s door. There have only been a handful of teams interested including the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Memphis Grizzles, Charlotte Bobcats and the New York Knicks. If you like to bet on sports it is always better with Allan Iverson around in the NBA.
The leaders of this race to sign the popular guard have been the Miami Heat and Memphis Grizzles, but no real moves have been made. Now it appears that one of these five teams have pulled themselves out of the AI race and that is the New York Knicks who seem to be doing everything in their power to clear enough cap room to sign the big free agent fish next offseason in Cleveland Cavaliers superstar small forward LeBron James.
Although at first glance the New York Knicks looks like a good place for Iverson to land considering the fact that he will probably start, be in a shoot first run and gun offense lead by head coach Mike D’ Antoni and be in the biggest market in the NBA, but his chances at winning an NBA title would be basically zero unless he is able to stay on with LeBron James next season.
Even though absolutely nothing is set in stone with AI, I believe he will end up in either Los Angeles or Miami as they have the best chance of becoming a title contender in the next couple of seasons.
Although Iverson’s signing will not be ground breaking like it was when he came to Denver to play with the Nuggets, his presence would definitely change the sports betting aspect of things on whatever team he decides to sign with. Online betting and the sports betting forum would most likely change their predictions of the team that takes a chance on the former scoring champ.
